Bio.

My name is Nicole A. Stein. I started dance when I was 5 years old and I haven't stopped. I knew early on that I had a passion for dance and knew that I wanted to teach it. My dream was to have my own studio, in my home with my family. My dream has come true!

I danced at various studios in the area, trying out and earning a spot on their dance teams. I started teaching in my Mom's garage at the age of 14, taught at the Calumet Club and a little bit at the old YMCA.

I took classes at UMA with the focus on business. I attend and continue to attend dance trips, conferences and workshops throughout New England. I've organized & participated in many Talent Shows for schools, festivals and clubs. I've won dance contests, earned trophies and have been recognized by former Senator Mitchell. I am a member of the Maine Dance Teachers Club.

I opened my first studio in August 2003. I worked a full time job during the day, a part time job on the weekends and taught dance in the evenings for the first few years. I know what it is to work hard in pursuit of your dream.

As my studio grew, so did my personal life. I got married to a wonderful man in 2006 (passed 10/24/24) then pregnant with our son, who started college this year. In 2008 we built a new home along with a bigger and better studio right where we are now in Manchester. In May 2016 our family grew and we now have a daughter.

It is my personality and dance experience that makes me great at what I do. I understand that life is busy and that for many families, their life doesn't revolve around just dance. I feel that letting your child dance shouldn't cost a fortune, nor does everything have to be a competition.
I love kids, I love dance....it really is that simple.

Dance Assistant Katrina Lancaster

Katrina comes to us with 14 years dance experience right here at Nicole's School of Dance. She has taken Tap, Jazz/Hip Hop, Ballet/Lyrical. She is in her 15th year and is taking the Adult Class. She has been a backstage helper at our recitals for years. She has helped with other aspects of dance including decorating, picture day, open house, etc. but in a volunteer, "behind the scenes" capacity. In 2019 we made things official, and she is happily back for her seventh season. She has worked in multiple early childhood education classroom from toddlers up through 1st graders before switching her degree to High Schoolers. She is sweet, kindhearted, loves kids and many have seen her around the studio. She used to babysit, dog sit, and house sit for us as well. She graduated from Thomas College in 2020 earning her degree in Secondary Education in English. She made the Presidents List every semester and she was Valedictorian. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree from UMaine. She works full time as one of the Winthrop High School English teachers. She is married, just had a baby and has two cats. Welcome Miss Katrina!

Kristen has been with me since my second year of business. She in her 21st year dancing and is taking the adult class. She has experience in Tap, Jazz/Hip-Hop & Ballet/Lyrical. She's always been either a volunteer at recitals, open houses, etc. or an assistant sub in various classes. We made things official & she is in her third season Assisting. Many dancers and parents will recognize her. She is fun, focused, sweet and a perfectionist. She is s go getter and it's obvious she loves kids.

She graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2023 earning her degree in Elementary Education. She danced on the school's BAMB dance team. She has also subbed in multiple area schools in the past. She is a full-time 4h grade teacher at Manchester Elementary School. Fun fact: She has kept all her costumes since she started dancing at the age of 3!

Welcome Miss Kristen!

Miss Katrina will be helping in the Tuesday 3, 4, 5 year old classes and Miss Kristen will be helping in the Wednesday A & B 6-9 year old classes. This will give me time to answer parent questions in between classes with out wasting precious class time. Having an assistant will also allow me to give personalized attention to help students with dance details and techniques.
